Many of today's creditors are willing to resolve your unpaid debt at a considerably reduced rate. They do this because they understand that if many people get to far behind and overwhelmed the consumer will just stop paying all together, so most creditors are willing to negotiate the amount you owe them to the interest rate you have to pay back. This is a delicate process and it is to be said that you can attempt to accomplish this on your own by contacting the creditor directly, but most times the creditor try's to push you around and use scare tactics to try and get all there money.

Don't be fooled the purpose of the creditor is to get as much money out of you as possible. They don't care who you are or what your situation is all they care about is getting their money and pleasing their stock holders.

Also be aware that many of the non profit debt negotiation organizations will hold you captive until you get all your debts paid off. This means that you will not in most cases be able to get new loans and your credit report will show that you are working with a credit counseling service, which shows as a negative on your credit report.

The best way to understand this process and what program would work best for you is to speak to a credit consultant, which will coach you as to the best route to go. Click here to receive a free debt negotiation consultation.
